KUCHING: Sarawak's gymnastics contingent is ready to challenge for honours at the Malaysia AGG Championship 2026 and Dato' Malek Cup 2026, to be held at Endah Parade on 26 and 27 September.

Led by Chef de Mission Aidwina Aidan Wing, the Sarawak contingent — comprising team managers, coaches and judges — departed for Kuala Lumpur on Friday, together with club and school representatives from Kuching and Sibu, reflecting the growth of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics (AGG) in Sarawak.

Six clubs and schools are taking part in the contingent, namely Track & Dance, Mine Dance Studio, SJK(C) Chung Hua Sungai Lubak, SJK(C) Chung Hua No. 6, SJK(C) Sungai Apong and Rainbow Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, Sibu, with teams competing in the IFAGG, NAD and Compulsory Programmes across categories ranging from under-10 to under-18.

Among the teams representing Sarawak are TD Elite Prime, Night Stone, Luminous, Stars of Sarawak, Lubak Nova, Hexa Legends, Silver Swan, Harmony Bloom, Hexa Heroes, Lubak Shine, Rainbow Ruby, The Gifted Bunnies, S.L. Elite and Lubak Phoenix, with the contingent also holding its final rehearsal at Dewan Sa'ati before departing for Kuala Lumpur.

This year's participation also saw the involvement of Rainbow Rhythmic Gymnastics Club from Sibu alongside clubs and schools from Kuching, reflecting the growing development of AGG in Sarawak and providing young people with opportunities to build discipline, self-confidence and team spirit.

Meanwhile, the Sarawak contingent also received a visit from Chan Lay Na at the final rehearsal, who gave the gymnasts words of support and encouragement before their departure for Kuala Lumpur. -UKASnews
