KUCHING: A total of 170 types of services from 50 agencies will be offered directly to the people through the Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) 2026 Mukah Division programme, to be held from October 2 to 4 at Dataran Pehin Setia Raja.

Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development and Dalat Assemblywoman Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the scale of services provided would bring wider benefits to the community, particularly those in rural areas.

"The organisation of SKS for Mukah Division is a programme that is eagerly awaited, not only by its elected representatives, but also by residents of Mukah Division and its surrounding areas.

"This is because we see this programme as an outreach programme, and the outreach being carried out is on a very large scale, with as many as 50 agencies involved and 170 services provided," she said.

She said this when appearing as a guest on the Juh Randau talk show produced by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) at the UKAS studio here on Tuesday.

According to her, the outreach approach allows the public to access government agencies directly without having to travel back and forth to related offices or ministries, thereby reducing travel and accommodation costs.

Meanwhile, Mukah Resident Bujang Rahman Seli said the postponement of SKS Mukah, originally scheduled for August due to the haze, was well received by the community as the decision was made on the grounds of public safety and health.

"However, they were able to accept the disappointment with an open heart. This is because the postponement was not due to something we deliberately chose to do, but was made on the basis of safety and public health, as the haze had suddenly worsened in Mukah Division at that time," he said.

He added that SKS Mukah will also provide job opportunities through the participation of seven companies in a job matching programme, as well as 50 local entrepreneur booths promoting local products.

Community empowerment programmes will also focus on tourism, digitalisation and exposure to artificial intelligence (AI), alongside youth entrepreneurship, sports and recreational activities for people from all walks of life.

Visitors can also take part in an e-contest offering 85 prizes over the three-day programme, including a grand prize of a Proton Saga car worth RM41,000, three motorcycles, gold pendants, hotel stays, gadgets and electrical items.

To enliven the atmosphere, Mukah Kitchen will showcase traditional Melanau food such as umai, sago and linut, while the Cultural Night Concert and People's Concert will feature local and national artistes.

The SKS Mukah programme welcomes people from across Sarawak to enjoy the various services, local products, cultural uniqueness and traditional food featured throughout the event. -UKASnews
