Sarawak’s eLASIS System Demonstrates Efficiency In Land Administration
KUALA LUMPUR: The implementation of the eLASIS system since 2009 demonstrates Sarawak’s ability to enhance the efficiency of land administration, including completing land ownership transactions within a day.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the system not only covers land ownership matters but also encompasses about 67 types of transactions.
“In Sarawak, we have been completing land ownership transactions within a day since 2009.
“Our system also does not only cover land ownership but encompasses about 67 types of transactions including caveats and subleases,” he said.
He told reporters after attending the 83rd National Land Council Meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Parliament Complex on Monday.
He attended the meeting on behalf of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.
Datuk Amar Awang Tengah said the system developed by Sarawak also drew attention during the meeting, with the state ready to share its experience and expertise with the Federal Government.
Meanwhile, he said Sarawak also plays an important role in helping Malaysia maintain at least 50 per cent of the country’s land area under forest cover, with about 62 per cent of Sarawak still covered by forests.
In this regard, he proposed that Sarawak and Sabah be given appropriate incentives, including through the Ecological Fiscal Transfer (EFT) mechanism, to support both states’ efforts to conserve their forest areas.
He also said Sarawak has planted about 67 million trees under the Greening Malaysia Programme and will continue the effort until 2030, with a new target of planting 50 million trees. -UKASnews
