Sarawak Budget 2027 Strengthens Early Childhood Education, Public Welfare
KUCHING: Allocations for early childhood education and welfare assistance under the Sarawak Budget 2027 reflect the state government's ongoing commitment to strengthening human capital development while ensuring that the welfare of the people remains a priority.
Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Sarawak Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah stated that early childhood education serves as a critical foundation in shaping quality human capital.
According to her, initiatives provided under the budget include childcare centre and kindergarten fee subsidies, as well as special annual grants to registered centers to support early childhood education.
“Early childhood education is very important because it forms the foundation, the foundational building block for our quality human capital,” she said.
She said this when met by reporters at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex here on Tuesday.
In the meantime, she added that social welfare and safety nets continue to be prioritised through a ‘from cradle to grave’ approach to ensure that the needs of society across all age groups are accounted for and no group is left behind.
Commenting on claims that the Sarawak Budget 2027 is an election budget, Dato Sri Fatimah emphasised that the state government's development efforts do not merely commence ahead of elections, but have been continuously implemented since the previous term. — UKASnews
