Senator Michael Mujah Lihan Re-Elected As Dewan Negara Member For Second Term
KUCHING: The Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today unanimously re-elected Senator Michael Mujah Lihan to continue his service as a Member of the Dewan Negara for a second term.
The nomination motion was tabled by Deputy Premier Sarawak Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and seconded by Minister in the Premier's Department Sarawak Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai.
“I propose that the Honourable Senator Michael Mujah Lihan be re-elected as a Member of the Dewan Negara for a second term.
“Throughout his first term as a Member of the Dewan Negara, he has gained valuable experience in Parliamentary affairs and in fulfilling his responsibilities as a representative of Sarawak at the Federal level.
“This experience serves as a strong foundation that can be leveraged to continue his service in drawing attention to issues related to the development and interests of the people of Sarawak,” he said.
The re-election was announced by Sarawak DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar after the motion was unanimously passed.
The Belaga native was first appointed as a Member of the Dewan Negara on December 11, 2023, with his first term scheduled to conclude this December.
He holds a Diploma in Public Administration graduate from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and has served as Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, since 2016. — UKASnews
