Sarawak Youth Entrepreneurs Can Apply For SYStartUP Grants Up To RM15,000
KUCHING: Youth entrepreneurs in Sarawak can apply for business startup grant assistance of up to RM15,000 through the SYStartUP Grant, in addition to accessing soft loan facilities totaling RM25 million established by the ministry in partnership with Affin Bank.
Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat explained that this support is among government initiatives to assist youth in starting businesses, alongside providing entrepreneurial training and technical guidance.
“The grant assistance is subject to eligibility criteria and application approval, aimed at supporting startup requirements and business development,” he said.
He said this when responding to a question from Daro Assemblyman Dr Safiee Ahmad at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting here on Friday.
Besides financial aid, he disclosed that the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) also provides guidance regarding business registration and licensing, financial management, and business plan preparation.
“Follow-up monitoring also helps identify challenges faced so that they receive appropriate advisory and referral services,” he added.
In terms of business expansion, Datuk Dr Ripin explained that the support provided encompasses marketing and business networking to help youth entrepreneurs gain market access and broaden growth opportunities.
This approach, he noted, aims to ensure that support for youth entrepreneurs is not limited to startup capital, but extends to mentorship and access to commercial opportunities to help them build sustainable businesses. — UKASnews
