KUCHING: Sarawak's Nur Syakura Mohamad Musa, who clinched the Qariah champion title at the 2026 International Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly, has received recognition from Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.

The appreciation was expressed when the Sarawak Premier received a courtesy visit from a Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) delegation together with Nur Syakura at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex o Friday.

The visit also gave Nur Syakura the opportunity to present the trophy she won at the prestigious competition in Kuala Lumpur recently.

Speaking to reporters, Nur Syakura said the Sarawak Premier expressed pride and congratulated her on her achievement in bringing honour to Malaysia, and Sarawak in particular, on the international stage.

"The Premier congratulated me and thanked me for bringing honour to Malaysia, especially Sarawak, at an international-level programme," she said.

Commenting on her future plans, Nur Syakura said she hopes to use her experience and knowledge to guide and nurture more talented qari and qariah from Sarawak.

She said sharing knowledge and experience is among the efforts she wishes to continue to ensure the next generation can achieve excellence in Quran recitation.

She also hoped her success would inspire young people to keep deepening their knowledge of the Quran and raise Sarawak's name to greater heights. -UKASnews
