Sarawak Takes Over Construction Of New Schools In Gedong & Sageng
GEDONG: The Sarawak Government has taken over the construction of new schools in Gedong and Sageng to ensure educational needs in the area continue to receive priority despite reduced allocations from the Federal Government.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said the development of these schools is vital to guarantee that children in Gedong and Sageng gain access to education and the latest knowledge required to navigate contemporary changes.
“Although the Federal Government has slightly reduced its allocation, we are taking over the construction of new schools in Sageng as well as in Gedong,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the Officiating Ceremony of the Kick-Off for the Satu Pemimpin Satu Kampung Berambeh Programme in Gedong on Sunday.
He emphasised that the government's priority is to ensure children receive quality education regardless of the funding source utilized to construct the facilities.
“Because we do not care where the funding comes from, what matters is that our children must be trained and equipped with the latest knowledge,” the Gedong Assemblyman stressed further.
Accordingly, he noted that these efforts are hoped to support human capital development in the region, in line with the need to produce a knowledgeable and skilled generation capable of taking on future challenges. — UKASnews
