SSLR Phase 1 Project Achieves 78.07 Per Cent Physical Progress
KUCHING: Phase 1 of the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) project has achieved 78.07 per cent physical progress and is targeted for completion in 2027.
Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said SSLR Phase 2 had recorded 23.38 per cent physical progress and was scheduled for completion in 2030.
“These projects will strengthen connectivity in northern Sarawak and provide an alternative route between Sarawak and Sabah without having to travel through Brunei Darussalam,” he said.
He said this during his ministerial winding-up session at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting on Wednesday.
He added that the implementation of both SSLR phases involved a total cost of RM8.17 billion and was being carried out alongside road upgrading works covering approximately 93 kilometres under the Trans Borneo Highway (LTB) project.
In a related development, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said the LTB project was also progressing through three main sections in Miri, Limbang and Lawas.
He said the contract for the 4.95-kilometre Miri section was awarded on September 18, 2026, while site possession took place on October 2, 2026.
Meanwhile, contracts for the 54.6-kilometre Limbang section and the 33.7-kilometre Lawas section were expected to be awarded by the end of this year. -UKASnews
