Sarawak Government Strengthens Assistance Initiatives For Well-Being Of The People
MIRI: The Sarawak Government continues to strengthen its commitment to the well-being of the people through various assistance initiatives and facilities that benefit women, children, senior citizens and those who need support.
Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Well-Being Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the state's development is measured not only by economic growth, but also by the extent to which its benefits are felt by people from all walks of life.
According to her, the programme is a Sarawak Government initiative to bring government services closer to the people through a grassroots approach that takes local needs into account, in collaboration with agencies under the ministry and strategic partners.
"The slogan 'Kamek Prihatin, Kitak Penting' is not merely a programme theme, but reflects the government's commitment to listening, understanding and meeting the needs of the people through closer and more effective service delivery," she said.
She said this when officiating the Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Well-Being Development (KPWK) Outreach Programme with Strategic Partners: Kamek Prihatin, Kitak Penting for the Miri Zone 2026, here on Saturday.
She stressed that ensuring the people know about the available initiatives, understand the eligibility requirements and obtain accurate information is a shared responsibility of the government, implementing agencies, strategic partners and community leaders.
She therefore urged all parties to continue going to the ground, listen sincerely to the community's problems and channel the issues to the relevant authorities so that appropriate action can be taken.
Meanwhile, Dato Sri Fatimah also underscored the importance of stability, consistent leadership and unity among the multiracial and multireligious community to ensure that Sarawak's development agenda can continue.
She said the 'Sarawak First' principle and efforts to safeguard the state's rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) are also part of the state's long-term development agenda.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Well-Being Development Datuk Rosey Yunus, Miri City Mayor and Pujut Assemblyman Adam Yii Siew Sang, KPWK Permanent Secretary Nur Alina Abdullah @ Colliner Gohe, Sarawak Social Welfare Department Director Semawi Mohamad, and Sarawak Women and Family Department Director Sharifah Zakiah Tuanku Pauzi. -UKASnews
