RM334 Million Allocated For Pan Borneo-Sri Aman Dual Carriageway Project
SRI AMAN: A RM334 million project to construct a dual carriageway from the Pan Borneo Highway junction to Sri Aman has been allocated to increase road network capacity and ease traffic congestion in the area.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said the existing route was becoming increasingly congested due to the rising number of vehicles and the growth of Sri Aman.
“Our road from the Pan Borneo Highway junction into Sri Aman is narrow. Sri Aman has now expanded, the number of vehicles has increased and traffic congestion has become a problem.
“Therefore, this dual carriageway project has been allocated at a cost of RM334 million,” he said when officiating at the Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) Programme for the Sri Aman Division at the Sri Aman Sports Complex here on Saturday.
He said the project would involve the construction of a dual carriageway from the Pan Borneo Highway junction to Sri Aman to improve traffic flow.
He added that the route would also form part of the road network connecting Sri Aman to Batang Lupar II Bridge, and subsequently to the Second Trunk Road, Sebuyau and Betong.
He said the infrastructure development was important to support Sri Aman's continued growth as an economic and administrative centre for the surrounding areas. -UKASnews
