UKAS Strengthens Collaboration Through Establishment Of Sarawak PRO Committee
SIBU: The Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) continues to strengthen the government's communication network by expanding strategic collaboration with various state government agencies through the establishment of the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Coordination Committee.
According to UKAS Director, Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan, the committee has been approved by Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, which serves to ensure that information on government programmes can be shared by their respective departments.
"This committee, chaired by Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Operation), Datu Hii Chang Kee, will coordinate development programmes by government departments and agencies.
" We will hold regular meetings to obtain the latest input on the programmes being implemented," he said.
He said this at the UKAS and Central Zone Strategic Partner 2025 Segulai Sejalai Night here, on Monday.
According to Awang Putrayusrie, this collaboration is crucial to ensure that government communication is implemented in an organised, transparent and is respected by the people, in line with the aspirations of the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg to create an administration that is open and responsive to the needs of the community.
Meanwhile, he also stressed UKAS' commitment in strengthening the delivery of government policies through various platforms including the UKAS Edition and the UKAS Bulletin published in four languages.
"As we know, the Sarawak Premier has created various initiatives that we need to convey to our community.
"Apart from official news channels, UKAS also utilises social media such as TikTok, Instagram, Threads, Telegram and YouTube to ensure that government information is delivered quickly to the people," he said.
Also present were Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol, Sibu Division Resident, Abang Mohamad Porkan Abang Budiman, Sibu Land and Survey Department Superintendent, Chua Soh Kee, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission Sibu Branch Director, Dinah Samuel and UKAS Deputy Director, Mohamed Faizal Shah Ali. -UKASnews
