Sarawak Remains Actively Involved In Shaping Regional Boundaries
KUCHING: Sarawak continues to maintain its crucial role in shaping the border determination process between Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, ensuring its interests are firmly protected in this strategic matter.
The matter was raised during a courtesy visit by Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup to the Sarawak Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at Astana Negeri Sarawak on Thursday.
During the meeting, the ministry assured that the Sarawak Government will continue to be comprehensively involved in every process pertaining to the border determination.
The discussions also addressed the reversion of undeveloped federal lands to the Sarawak Government, consistent with initiatives to reinforce the state’s rights and interests.
Furthermore, both parties exchanged perspectives on the delegation of authority concerning scheduled waste management under the Environmental Quality Act which is currently in the process of being handed over to the Sarawak Government.
In the meantime, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi shared insights and experiences from his previous service as Minister of Natural Resources and Environment alongside discussions on matters pertaining to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
At the end of the visit, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi conveyed their gratitude to Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup for the sustained close collaboration between the Sarawak state leadership and the Federal Government.
