STIDC Signs Agreement With PMW International To Boost Tanjung Manis Industrial Growth
KUCHING: Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) has signed an agreement with PMW International Sdn Bhd to establish Tanjung Manis as a strategic industrial hub, intended to drive economic drive throughout Sarawak’s central region.
General Manager of STIDC, Datu Zainal Abidin Abdullah mentioned that Tanjung Manis is to be the priority where it is entrusted by the state government to drive growth into rural areas while supporting the Tanjung Manis Economic Growth Area (T-MEGA).
According to Datu Zainal Abidin, a strategic alliance and equity investment in PMW Winabumi (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd are driving the project.
This participation is part of a larger effort to promote regional industrial growth through focused business cooperation.
The partnership prioritises local socioeconomic advantages over industrial growth.
The project’s emphasis on skill development employment creation for Tanjung Manis locals is in line with the provinces’ social inclusiveness objectives.
PMW International Sdn Bhd’s Executive Director, Lee Hon Hwa stated that the company’s goal is to manufacture “made-in-Sarawak” concrete poles, and foundation piles locally.
“We aim to produce localised “made-in-Sarawak foundation piles, spun pikes, square piles, and concrete poles to support infrastructure growth in Sarawak and the region,” he stated.
PMW International is requesting regulatory authority from STIDC to start factory building in order to accelerate these initiatives.
The business will submit its Sale and Purchase transaction (SPA) for approval after the transaction is formalised.
The Tanjung Manis facility is expected to be completely operational by the end of 2027, with the building process taking around a year.
With the completion of the first round of interviews for local personnel, the project has already entered its initial recruitment phase.
According to Lee, the facility’s existence is anticipated to stimulate additional industrial investment in Tanjung Manis boosting the local economy by generating jobs and developing skills.
