Sarawak Governor & Wife Receive Courtesy Visit From Norwegian Ambassador To Malaysia
KUCHING: Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi received a courtesy visit from the new Norwegian Ambassador to Malaysia, Marianne Folsan at the Astana Negeri Sarawak on Tuesday.
Also accompanying her were Deputy Head of Mission, Knut Oyvind Granli, Embassy intern, Elisabeth Rapp, and Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sarawak Regional Office, Dato Fenny Nuli.
The courtesy visit aimed to officially introduce themselves and further strengthen diplomatic relations and bilateral cooperation between the Government of Norway and the State of Sarawak, particularly in the fields of renewable energy, environmental sustainability, education and green economy.
In a friendly bilateral discussion, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and Marianne also highlighted the great potential for cooperation between Sarawak and Norway in the field of green energy and technological innovation, in line with the state's sustainable development direction by 2030.
Marianne expressed Norway's commitment to sharing expertise and the latest technology in the field of renewable energy and environmental sustainability, as Norway is among the global leaders in the green energy sector.
Meanwhile, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi stressed that efforts to strengthen green energy initiatives are in line with Sarawak's aspiration to become a developed and resilient state by 2030, through sustainable economic development and based on technological innovation.
This strategic partnership will open up new investment opportunities, create highly skilled jobs, and strengthen Sarawak's competitiveness in the global green economy.
Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi also expressed confidence that the close relationship between Sarawak and Norway will continue to grow, especially in the implementation of clean energy, education and innovative economic projects that will provide mutual benefits to the people of both countries. -UKASnews
