Renovation Works At MRC Miri Dialysis Centre Now 60 Per Cent Complete
MIRI: The comprehensive renovation of the MRC Miri Dialysis Centre, a vital treatment hub for kidney patients in the area for the past three decades, has reached 60 per cent completion, marking significant progress in efforts to upgrade its facilities and dialysis services.
Sarawak Minister of Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, said the upgrading works are a critical necessity to ensure patients receive safer, more modern treatment that meets the standards set by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM).
"This centre is among the best dialysis centres in the country, and this renovation is important to ensure the latest equipment is used in line with KKM standards," he said during his visit to the project site on Friday.
To date, the centre has received RM1.5 million in contributions, but the amount remains insufficient to cover the total project cost of RM4.541 million.
Dato Sri Lee therefore called on corporate bodies, the local community and non-governmental organisations to continue extending support so the centre can be fully operational by the middle of next year, once renovation works and installation of new machines are completed.
"Community, corporate and organisational support is greatly needed to meet the cost of this project. Every contribution brings direct benefit to patients who depend on quality dialysis treatment," he said.
He stressed that the MRC Miri Dialysis Centre is an important asset for the people of Sarawak, particularly patients who rely heavily on regular dialysis treatment. -UKASnews
