Sosek Malindo, Titian Muhibbah Strengthen Malaysia–Indonesia Relations In Tebedu
TEBEDU: The organisation of the 24th Indonesia–Malaysia Socio-Economic Working Committee (Sosek Malindo) Programme and the 17th Titian Muhibbah Night continues to reinforce bilateral ties between Malaysia and Indonesia, while further empowering cross-border cooperation through the participation of about 400 attendees from both countries.
The annual programme not only revives the spirit of sportsmanship but also serves as a strategic platform to strengthen connections among local communities, government agencies, and border personnel in Tebedu, Malaysia, as well as Entikong and Sanggau in Indonesia.
Throughout the programme, a variety of traditional and modern sporting events have been organised at several key venues, including Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tebedu, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tebedu, the Tebedu Mini Stadium, and the Tebedu Community Hall.
The official opening and closing ceremonies are scheduled to take place at the Tebedu Mini Stadium on 11 April 2026.
The highlight of the programme, the 17th Titian Muhibbah Night, which is scheduled to be held at Dewan Tayung Langui in Kampung Pichin, will feature cultural performances such as traditional dances and songs from both countries, showcasing the distinct richness of the region’s cultural heritage.
The event is expected to be graced by the presence of Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, adding further value to efforts to promote cultural tourism and strengthen ties among border communities.
Earlier, a coordination meeting to ensure the smooth organisation of the programme was chaired by Tebedu District Officer Gerard George Entigar, with the attendance of the Camat of Entikong as well as representatives from Sanggau Regency together with the Indonesian delegation.
According to Gerard George, the programme is aimed at fostering and strengthening friendship as well as cooperation among the people, government agencies, and personnel stationed at the Tebedu–Entikong border post.
He added that the continuity of this programme reflects the commitment of both countries to strengthening grassroots relations, while supporting the development of border areas that are more inclusive, harmonious, and competitive. -UKASnews
