DID Sarawak Strengthens Integrity Culture, Receives International ISO Certifications
KUCHING: The organisation of Integrity Day was not merely a symbolic event, rather, it reflected an ongoing commitment to strengthening the values of integrity, accountability and excellence in the public service, particularly within the Sarawak Civil Service (SCS).
Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, said the initiative represents a collective commitment among civil servants to ensure that transparent, ethical and effective governance continues to be practised.
“This is not simply a formal gathering, but a manifestation of our shared commitment to integrity, accountability and excellence in the public service,” he said.
He said this when officiating at the Sarawak Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Integrity Day Celebration 2026, attended by about 200 guests comprising civil servants and representatives from related agencies on Wednesday.
The event, themed “Firm Integrity, Excellent DID Sarawak”, is among the ongoing efforts to support the state government’s aspiration to achieve a high-integrity state status by 2030.
He added that the Discipline in Execution: Approach (DIEA), implemented under the PCDS 2030 initiative, serves as a key driver in ensuring that every plan is translated into implementation that delivers high-impact outcomes for the people.
He further noted that public trust in the government can only be sustained through an administration that is clean, transparent and free from abuse of power.
“Good governance not only combats corruption, but also prevents the wastage of resources and breaches of trust,” he explained.
At the same event, DID Sarawak also received two international certifications, namely MS ISO 37001:2016 (Anti-Bribery Management System, ABMS) and MS ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), covering the department’s overall operations, including 12 divisional offices.
The certifications were presented by the Chief Executive Officer of SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd to the Director of DID Sarawak, Datu Ir. Ts. Ahmad Denney Ahmad Fauzi, and witnessed by Datuk Amar Dr Sim.
The scope of the ABMS certification covers engineering services, project management as well as the maintenance of infrastructure development and water resources management, while the QMS certification encompasses comprehensive service management and hydrological data management.
The recognition is not merely an achievement, it also symbolises DID Sarawak’s ongoing commitment to practising the highest standards of governance while strengthening early preventive measures against corruption risks.
Meanwhile, Datuk Amar Dr Sim also expressed his appreciation to all personnel of DID Sarawak for their dedication in delivering the best service to the people.
He also called for integrity values to be further strengthened, including through efforts to educate the younger generation in order to ensure the state’s sustainable development.
“With the commitment demonstrated, I am confident that public trust will continue to grow and that Sarawak will be able to reach a higher level in integrity, governance and sustainable development,” he said.
Also present was Sarawak Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil. -UKASnews
