Additional Roof Structure To Enhance Safety & Comfort
BINTANGOR: A new additional roofing structure will soon be built at Rumah Jonathan Jin, bringing relief and excitement to residents who have long awaited improved protection and comfort for community activities.
Spearheaded under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP), the initiative was confirmed during a brief meeting between the Rumah Jonathan Jin Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and the engineering team from Meradong and Julau District Council (MDMJ).
Meradong Assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said the RM70,000 allocation reflects the state government’s continued commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure.
He said the new structure will provide better shelter during gatherings, enhance safety for families living at the longhouse and uplift the overall appearance of the community space.
“I want to ensure this project is carried out properly and delivers real, long-term benefit to the residents. This must align with the needs and well-being of the community,” he said.
During the session, JKKK representatives also presented suggestions on the design and layout of the roofing extension to ensure it is practical and suited to local needs.
Among the considerations were durable materials, proper drainage and a comfortable open area suitable for various communal activities.
MDMJ Civil Engineer Nur Hazirah briefed the committee on the technical plan, including the work duration, site inspection schedule and safety measures to be observed throughout the project.
The council assured that all stages of the project will be closely monitored to ensure compliance with approved specifications.
The JKKK expressed appreciation to the state government and MDMJ for their support in realising the project, which they described as timely and beneficial for long-term community use.
The project highlights the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen rural development by providing safer, more functional public facilities for local communities. -UKASnews
