SUPP Piasau Blood Donation Drive Draws Strong Community Support
MIRI: The SUPP Piasau branch successfully organised its 2025 Blood Donation Campaign today, receiving an encouraging response from the local community at Aster Hall, Malaysian Red Crescent Miri.
Held in collaboration with the Miri Hospital Blood Bank and supported by SUPP Lambir committee members, the campaign aimed to promote health awareness, support patients in need, and help maintain sufficient blood reserves for emergency use at hospitals.
Organising Event Advisor Joseph Leng oversaw the programme along with SUPP Piasau Secretary Councillor Kelvin Chia Kah Leong, SUPP Youth Chief Piasau Councillor Leslie Lau, and Councillor Tan Lek Jin.
Councillor Kelvin Chia said the positive turnout reflected the strong community spirit in Miri.
He shared that the drive recorded 145 registrations, with 119 bags of blood successfully collected.
He added that SUPP will continue to champion initiatives that benefit public health and involve community participation, noting that blood donation remains a critical act of service that directly saves lives.
To appreciate the donors’ support, the first 100 successful donors received special tokens sponsored by various local businesses including Tong Seng Huat Sdn Bhd, Everise, WeDrink, Sugarbun, Open Air Stall 28, Miri Biscuit House, Sajimas Agrofood Sdn Bhd, Greateeth Dental Clinic, and 5ber Sdn Bhd.
Organisers extended their gratitude to all volunteers, partners and donors, emphasising that the campaign’s success reflects the collective commitment of Miri residents towards community well-being. -UKASnews
