SUPP Bintulu Celebrates 63rd Anniversary & New Committee Installation
BINTULU: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bintulu Branch celebrated its 63rd Anniversary alongside the Installation Ceremony for its 24th Executive Committee (2025–2027) at the Imperial Hotel Bintulu on Saturday.
The ceremony was officiated by SUPP President and Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian.
In his keynote address, Datuk Amar Dr. Sim asserted that Sarawak is currently on its fastest development trajectory in history, a result of the state's political stability, inclusive policies, and economic consolidation.
He said that present-day Sarawak has transformed from a previously underestimated state into one that now attracts the focus and confidence of investors as well as the Federal government.
He also highlighted that Sarawak's financial position is now robust enough to be independent of external financing, and the state serves as a prime example in fiscal management.
This economic strength, he explained, enables the state government to implement more progressive policies for the benefit of the people.
Regarding education, Datuk Amar Dr. Sim stressed Sarawak's commitment to recognising the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) for over 10 years, in addition to allocating RM10 million annually to Chinese secondary schools, with a total sum of nearly RM92 million allocated to date.
He further asserted that Sarawak’s education policy is open to all races, thereby strengthening the state's diversity of talent.
Concurrently, the role of the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR), which has received over RM500 million since 2017, was highlighted as proof of Sarawak's harmonious approach to interfaith relations.
Meanwhile, Tanjung Batu Assemblyman and Chairman of SUPP Bintulu, Johnny Pang Leong Ming, reminded the committee members that their positions within the party are a sacred trust that must be carried out with integrity.
He stressed the importance of defending Sarawak's political stability and cautioned against being swayed by the influence of outside parties who do not understand the aspirations of the state's people.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of a cheque for RM594,458 to SMK Kai Dee. The event was further enlivened by a traditional lion dance, cultural performances, and a lucky draw, concluding the 63rd-anniversary celebration of the SUPP Bintulu Branch. - UKASnews
