2026 Sarawak Budget Conference: A Strategic Platform Shaping Fiscal Policy & The State’s Economic Direction
KUCHING: The 2026 Sarawak Budget Conference will take place from 16 to 17 December 2025 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
The Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) on Monday announced that the conference aims to reinforce the State’s long-term fiscal policy direction and economic development strategy.
Jointly organised with SCOPE, the Leadership Institute of Sarawak Civil Service and SALIHIN Academy, the conference is expected to serve as a key forum for discussions on Sarawak’s economic future.
Carrying the theme “Empowering People, Advancing Prosperity, Building A Resilient Future,” the event reflects Sarawak’s commitment to inclusive growth, economic transformation and long-term resilience, in line with the State’s development agenda and Malaysia’s Madani economic framework.
It will bring together policymakers, industry experts and economic leaders to align strategic priorities ahead of the Sarawak Budget 2026.
A major highlight is the session titled “A Moment with the Premier of Sarawak” with the Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Openg, during which the Sarawak Premier will outline the aspirations, fiscal priorities and development strategies for the year ahead.
The participation of federal leaders, including Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, further strengthens the importance of fostering fiscal dialogue between the State and the nation.
The two-day programme will explore critical topics such as Malaysia–Sarawak fiscal policy alignment, the direction of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) and the State’s shift towards a green economy, along with forums on e-invoicing implementation, SST revision, MSME digitalisation strategies and global trade uncertainties.
These sessions are expected to provide valuable insights into economic reforms that will shape both businesses and communities.
The conference will also feature the launch of the “Doing Business in Sarawak” publication, an essential reference highlighting investment opportunities and the State’s economic ecosystem.
Registration is now open, with the first 300 participants standing a chance to win exclusive AirBorneo flight tickets.
