Malaysia–UK Leadership Programme Produces Second Graduating Cohort In UK
UNITED KINGDOM: A total of 29 senior leaders from Malaysia and the region have graduated from the second cohort of the Professional Certificate in Contemporary Leadership (PCCL) programme at the Markfield Institute of Higher Education (MIHE), United Kingdom, marking another milestone in international leadership development collaboration.
According to a statement, the training programme is organised by the Malaysian Research and Education Foundation (MyREF) in partnership with MIHE and delivered in collaboration with the Institute of Management Sarawak (MASA).
“Participants were senior civil servants, corporate executives, academics, CSO and community leaders.
“The three-month leadership journey culminated in a week-long residential programme in Markfield from 24 to 30 November, featuring advanced leadership modules, reflective learning, and global exposure. Participants also attended special academic sessions at the University of Oxford, at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) and Linacre College,” it said.
In voicing his support for the programme, Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, Senior Lecturer Dr Jee Teck Weng said the programme had a transformative impact on his leadership approach.
“The PCCL programme has shaped me into a more inclusive leader and empowered me to create meaningful bridges between Malaysia and the United Kingdom,” he said.
Echoing the programme’s wider purpose, HIKMAH Sarawak's Chairman of the Rural and Community Da’wah Committee, and UNIMAS Professor Dr Thomas Kana @ Kamarudin Bin Kana said the PCCL programme is about building future-ready leaders through foresight, integrity and inclusivity for a better world for all.
From the public sector perspective, the Protection Division of the Malaysia Prime Minister’s Department, Director of Management Mohammad Fadzli Ngatmi emphasised the role of leadership in human development.
“Leadership is about unlocking people’s potential to become better, leading with purpose and wisdom,” he said.
Participants of the second cohort represented government ministries, Sarawak state departments, universities including UNIMAS, Swinburne Sarawak, i-CATS University College, UiTM, UPM and INCEIF, as well as corporate, engineering, takaful, consulting and humanitarian sectors.
Meanwhile, international participants also came from the Philippines, which provided international networking for the participants.
The graduating participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ethical, globally competent and socially responsible leadership through further training and alumni involvement.
Organisers expressed confidence that PCCL graduates will play an important role in shaping organisational excellence, national development and cross-border collaboration. -UKASnews
