RTP Projects In Meradong To Enhance Rural Safety & Community Facilitiesx
MERADONG: Two Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects aimed at improving basic infrastructure and community facilities in Meradong are set to benefit local residents.
The site handover ceremony one of the projects on Wednesday was witnessed by Meradong Assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, marking the commencement of works implemented by the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarikei Division under the state’s ongoing rural development agenda.
The first project involves the upgrading of electrical wiring and the road frontage at Rh Tunjang, Sungai Lelabi, Bintangor, with an allocation of RM90,000.
The scope includes replacing outdated electrical systems to enhance safety and energy efficiency, as well as improving the access road in front of the longhouse to ensure smoother movement for residents, particularly during the rainy season.
Valued at RM100,000, the second project focuses on upgrading infrastructure at Balai Raya, Scheme B, Meradong.
Works include the construction of a new room and improvements to the awning and fencing, providing a more comfortable and secure space for community activities.
Speaking at the event, Datuk Ding said the projects would be carried out in stages according to the approved work schedule, with emphasis on construction quality and strict compliance with technical specifications to ensure long-term benefits for residents.
“The state government remains attentive to the needs of rural communities, especially in terms of basic infrastructure that directly improves quality of life. These RTP projects reflect our commitment to ensuring that rural areas in Meradong continue to progress in line with overall state development,” he said.
JKR Sarikei Division, represented by Assistant Civil Engineer Allif, assured that continuous monitoring would be conducted throughout the project implementation to ensure smooth execution and timely completion.
The ceremony was also attended by community leaders Tr Tunjang Naga and Tr Ravica Francis, along with local residents who expressed appreciation for the government’s efforts and hoped for more development initiatives to support the growth and wellbeing of rural communities in Meradong. -UKASnews
