AKSARi 2025 Reflects Sarawak’s Commitment To Education
DEBAK: The Saribas Excellence Awards Ceremony 2025 (AKSARi) at SMK Saribas highlighted the Sarawak Government’s continued commitment to strengthening education as a foundation for human capital development.
Held at Dewan Akademia, SMK Saribas, on Friday the ceremony was officiated by Deputy Minister for Community Wellbeing Development and Saribas Assemblyman Datuk Mohamad Razi Sitam.
In his address, Datuk Mohamad Razi said the awards ceremony served as recognition for students who have excelled academically and in co-curricular activities, while also reflecting the importance placed by the state on nurturing well-rounded future generations.
“This recognition is not only for the students, but also for parents and teachers of SMK Saribas, who are the backbone of our children’s success today,” he said.
He congratulated the award recipients on their achievements, adding that the success attained should serve as a strong foundation for future accomplishments.
Datuk Mohamad Razi reiterated the Sarawak Government’s strong commitment to education development, noting that the Premier of Sarawak has approved state funding to upgrade and develop schools throughout Sarawak.
He said beginning 2026, Sarawak will provide free tertiary education for Sarawakian students pursuing studies at state-owned universities, alongside various initiatives and allowances aimed at easing the financial burden on students.
“The state government is committed to ensuring that the education system continues to progress in line with modern needs through strengthened digitalisation, improved infrastructure, inclusive access to education, and the development of character, leadership and noble values in line with Sarawak’s cultural identity,” he added.
He also stressed that the involvement of parents and the local community remains vital as strategic partners in efforts to enhance student performance and overall educational excellence.
Meanwhile, SMK Saribas principal Nur Liana Lim Abdullah called on parents, the community, alumni and strategic partners to continue supporting the school’s efforts in achieving its goals and sustaining excellence among students and the wider school community.
Also present were SISC+ Language Officer of the Betong District Education Office, Nelson Peter representing the Betong District Education Officer, SMK Saribas Parents and Teachers Association president, Abang Akim Abang Ahmad Amzah, Debak Sub-District Administrative Officer, Mohammad Khairurani Mohammad Ibrahim, and Betong Division Temenggung, Piee Alwi. -UKASnews
