SIBU: The Sarawak Government’s commitment to placing education at the forefront of the state’s development agenda was reaffirmed during the Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School (YSISS) Sibu Student Excellence Awards Ceremony held at the school on Friday.
Representing Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak and Nangka Assemblyman, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, the message was conveyed by Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Sayed Azmee Wan Junaidi, during the ceremony attended by about 250 students, parents and guests.
In his text speech, Datuk Dr Annuar said the Sarawak Government remains committed to ensuring that every child in the state has access to fair, inclusive and quality education, regardless of socio-economic background.
He said Yayasan Sarawak continues to play a vital role as a strategic partner to the state government in strengthening the education ecosystem through progressive initiatives and targeted assistance programmes.
Among these initiatives is the Yayasan Sarawak Laptop Assistance Programme, which saw 53 students from YSISS Sibu, comprising those from B40 and M40 families, receiving laptop computers to support their learning journey.
“This assistance reflects the government’s continuous efforts to empower students with the necessary tools to excel academically and adapt to the demands of modern education,” he said.
He also congratulated all award recipients, expressing hope that the recognition would serve as motivation and inspiration for them to strive for greater achievements in the future.
Meanwhile, the ceremony marked a significant milestone for YSISS Sibu as it was the first Student Excellence Awards Ceremony organised by the school since its establishment, reflecting its growing role in nurturing academic excellence among Sarawak’s youth.
Also present were Yayasan Sarawak Deputy Director (Operations) Mohamad Adzlin Ibrahim, Yayasan Sarawak Board Member Dr Abdul Rahman Deen, and Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan Sarawak International Education Sdn Bhd, Noranne Adam Asim. -UKASnews
