209 Housing Units In Phase One Sungai Berdaun Project Nearly Fully Occupied
KUCHING: The Sungai Berdaun Housing Project, which involves 209 housing units under its first phase, is now almost fully occupied by eligible residents.
Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) Senior Manager for Corporate Affairs, Saiful Bahari Amra Ramly, said the housing units were provided to additional heads of households from the Darul Hana Project, who were given the opportunity to own homes of their own.
“For the 209 housing units under the first phase, they are now almost fully occupied, particularly by additional heads of households from the Darul Hana Project, who were given the opportunity to purchase homes in Sungai Berdaun,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters when met during the LCDA Bowling Fiesta with the Media 2025 at Megalanes Sarawak, Batu Kawa, here on Saturday.
Saiful Bahari revealed that the second phase of the Sungai Berdaun Housing Project is expected to commence next year, although this will depend on prevailing conditions.
In a related development, he said several other Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) projects are also currently being implemented in Gedong, Sebuyau and Lawas, with some of the projects expected to be completed next year.
He explained that all these housing projects form part of LCDA’s ongoing efforts to assist the Sarawak Government in providing affordable housing, particularly for families who do not yet own a home.
According to him, LCDA works closely with various agencies, including the Land and Survey Department, the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Mutiara Mortgage, to ensure that the housing developments are fully equipped with basic amenities, utilities and supporting infrastructure. -UKASnews
