Wilfred Yap Committed To Ensuring Kota Sentosa Benefits From Development
KUCHING: Kota Sentosa Assemblyman, Wilfred Yap Yau Sin, reaffirms his commitment to ensuring that the Kota Sentosa area is neither marginalised nor left behind in the wave of development being implemented by the Sarawak Government.
He said this commitment encompasses the upgrading of infrastructure, educational facilities, community welfare, religious institutions, youth development, as well as other needs at the grassroots level.
“My role is to ensure that Kota Sentosa fully benefits from all the sound policies and initiatives introduced by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak Government,” he said.
He made these remarks while delivering his speech at the Kota Sentosa Media Appreciation Dinner 2025, held at a hotel here on Sunday.
At the same time, Wilfred praised the role of Sarawak’s media as a strategic partner in supporting the government’s efforts to deliver information accurately and in a manner that is easily understood by the public.
He explained that Sarawak is fortunate to have media practitioners who do more than simply report events. They also help to explain policies, translate government initiatives into language that resonates with the people, provide feedback, and reflect the voices of the community back to policymakers.
According to him, this role is particularly crucial for the Sarawak Government under the leadership of the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, whose wide-ranging policies require clear and accurate communication to effectively reach the people.
“Your reporting not only helps shape public perception, but more importantly, it helps the government to be more responsive and attentive to the voices of the rakyat,” he said. -UKASnews
