Sarawak Strengthens Development Agenda Towards 2026
KUCHING: The Sarawak Government continues to strengthen the state's comprehensive development agenda towards the New Year 2026, in line with the aspiration of Sarawak Maju Makmur 2030 which is now closer to being realised.
Sarawak Minister for Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said, with the remaining implementation period of less than five years, all parties need to continue to increase efforts and work together to ensure that each development agenda can be implemented more effectively and provide comprehensive benefits to the people.
“We need to strengthen cooperation between the government, private sector and the people, improve the efficiency of project implementation, and ensure that no community is left behind in the flow of development.
"Only through cooperation, unity and joint commitment, can we realise the aspirations of Sarawak Maju Makmur 2030," he said in a statement on Tuesday.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining the spirit of unity, tolerance and harmony among the people of Sarawak, as social and political stability is the main foundation for economic progress and community well-being.
Reviewing the Sarawak Transport Ministry's direction for 2026, he said the ministry would focus on efforts to strengthen a safer, modern, inclusive and effective transport system covering the land, air, river and maritime sectors.
"In 2026, the ministry's main focus is to increase people's mobility and support socio-economic growth throughout Sarawak — including rural areas.
"This includes the implementation of projects such as the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) system in Kuching, preparations for the operation of AirBorneo, improving road safety and strengthening logistics facilities and people's transport services," he added.
In addition, the river and maritime transport sectors will continue to be improved to ensure accessibility, safety and efficiency of services to coastal communities and inland areas.
In this regard, he called on all Sarawakians to step into the New Year 2026 with renewed enthusiasm and determination to jointly build a more developed, prosperous and sustainable Sarawak, while wishing all Sarawakians a Happy New Year 2026 with the hope that this new year will bring continued prosperity and blessings. -UKASnews
