Sarawak’s Revenue Increases Significantly Over Past Eight Years
LIMBANG: Sarawak continues to record significant achievements, including a sharp surge in state revenue and the implementation of large-scale development projects that directly benefit the people.
Sarawak’s Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, said that under the eight-year leadership of the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, the state has undergone a major transformation in economic and infrastructural development.
According to Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman, the state’s revenue, which stood at approximately RM6 billion to RM7 billion at the start of the current administration, has nearly doubled to roughly RM13 billion to RM14 billion.
"We are very grateful to have a visionary leader who is brave enough to make strategic decisions to ensure Sarawak’s future remains secure. This leadership is trusted to guide Sarawak towards becoming a developed, high-income state by 2030," he said.
He made these remarks during the 2026 New Year’s Eve celebrations organised by the Bukit Kota branch of SABERKAS, which was attended by approximately 2,000 visitors on Wednesday.
Commenting on the nation’s and state’s development trajectories, he explained that 2025 marks the final year of the 12th Malaysia Plan before Malaysia and Sarawak transition into a new phase of development via the 13th Malaysia Plan, spanning 2026 to 2030.
In the context of the Limbang District, he noted that various major projects have been, or are being implemented. These include the construction of a 1.8-kilometre waterfront project, the Sarawak–Sabah Link Road, the Northern Coastal Highway, and the Trans Borneo Highway, which is expected to be completed between 2028 and 2030.
He added that these projects will have a massive impact on regional connectivity, economic growth, and sustainable development in northern Sarawak, particularly in Limbang.
Furthermore, the state government remains committed to basic infrastructure, including roads, electricity, water, and telecommunications, to ensure the continued wellbeing of the people. - UKASnews
