Sarawak Deputy Minister For Utility Visits Flood Victims In Kampung Sungai Maong
KUCHING: Deputy Minister For Utility (Sarawak Energy Berhad and PETROS), Datuk Ibrahim Baki, went on the ground to visit flood victims who have been placed at the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) at Masjid Darul Istiqlaal, Kampung Sungai Maong, on Saturday.
During the visit, which lasted about half an hour, Datuk Ibrahim, who is also the Satok Assemblyman, took the opportunity to personally engage with the flood victims and observe the current situation at the evacuation centre.
He also presented contributions to representatives of heads of households from 26 families who were forced to relocate to the PPS due to the flooding.
According to records, the PPS at Masjid Darul Istiqlaal, Kampung Sungai Maong, which was opened on 2 January 2026, is currently housing a total of 128 flood victims from 26 families.
These comprise 70 adults, 41 children, 16 senior citizens and one infant. -UKASnews
