UNIONS Targets 180 High-Impact Integrity Programmes In 2026 To Strengthen Governance In Sarawak
KUCHING: The Sarawak Integrity and Ombudsman Unit (UNIONS) is targeting the implementation of 180 programmes throughout 2026 as a strategic move to further strengthen the integrity, governance and accountability agenda within the public service and the wider community in Sarawak.
This high-impact target is in line with the aspiration of the Premier of Sarawak, who has consistently emphasised the cultivation of integrity as a core pillar of the state’s development.
It also aligns with the implementation of the Post-COVID Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which is anchored on inclusive prosperity, efficient service delivery and sustained public confidence in government institutions.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Dato' Murshid DiRaja Dr Juanda Jaya in his address at an Assembly on Monday, stressed that all UNIONS personnel must remain resolute and committed to shouldering this responsibility with dedication, focus and professionalism, in line with UNIONS’ role as a leading institution in strengthening the state’s integrity ecosystem.
He also emphasised that all UNIONS planning and actions should adopt the 3R approach, namely Revisit, which involves reassessing existing policies, systems and approaches; Rethink, by conceptualising and designing more innovative and effective methods; and Recharge, through renewing the spirit, capacity and commitment of the workforce.
This, he said, is crucial to ensuring that the integrity agenda remains relevant, dynamic and high-impact.
The integrity agenda driven by UNIONS goes beyond mere compliance.
It serves as a catalyst for strengthening good governance, transparency and accountability across all levels of administration, in keeping with Sarawak’s ambition to emerge as a developed and high-income region by 2030.
With structured planning and sustained commitment, UNIONS is expected to continue playing a key role in driving the culture of integrity and effective governance, while supporting Sarawak’s broader aspirations under PCDS 2030. -UKASnews
