Sarawak Ready To Open Investment Opportunities To Peninsular Malaysian Companies
KUCHING: Sarawak is always prepared to open up investment opportunities across various sectors to companies from Peninsular Malaysia.
Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, said that among the identified sectors are manufacturing, agriculture with an emphasis on food security, medicine and healthcare, renewable energy, semiconductors, and high-tech industries such as drones.
He added that discussions also focused on talent development as a critical element to support industry needs and ensure the sustainable growth of these sectors.
“All of this is part of our effort to create an ecosystem that facilitates these investments so they can be realised,” he remarked.
He said this when met by reporters after receiving a courtesy call from the CREST Penang delegation at his office here on Thursday.
Leading the delegation was the former Director-General of Health Malaysia and Chairman of the UCSI Healthcare Group, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Datuk Amar Awang Tengah, who is also the Sarawak Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED), added that the forestry sector is also receiving attention, with an emphasis on producing value-added products such as paper-based industries, in line with efforts to enhance the industry's value chain.
In an effort to strengthen strategic cooperation, Sarawak also plans to organise specialised forums and conferences that will serve as platforms to intensify networking and collaboration between industry players and investors.
“We also agreed to hold a forum or conference so that we can further intensify the areas of cooperation between us. This, however, is still in the planning stages,” he further explained. — UKASnews
