KUCHING: Sarawak Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni recently attended the Abu Dhabi Sustainable Week (ADSW) 2026 held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates from 13 to 15 January 2026.
According to a statement, he will participate as one of the panelist speakers at the National Committee Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Session on January 15 at 1 pm.
“The SDGs session is titled ‘Resilient Systems, Real Results’, showcasing Sarawak in the energy and environment sector.
“Six agencies from Sarawak also attended ADSW 2026, where Datuk Dr Hazland was accompanied by Group Managing Director of Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd Dato Jefri Ahmad Tambi, Dato Syeed Mohd Hossen and a management team from Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad, Sarawak Energy Sdn Bhd, Institute of Sustainability and Renewable Energy(ISuRE) Unimas and Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd,” it said on Wednesday.
ADSW 2026 is an annual global platform that brings together leaders, policymakers, businesses and experts to advance practical solutions for sustainable development in the UAE and around the world.
The opening ceremony on January 13, 2026 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) was attended by President of United Arab Emirates His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Zayed Al Nahyan.
He highlighted the rapid growth of advanced technologies and digital economy, emphasising the role of innovation, particularly artificial intelligence, in improving efficiency and strengthening resilience supporting economic growth.
Held under the theme 'The Nexus of Next: All System Go’, ADSW 2026 brings together stakeholders from energy, finance, food, water and environmental sectors to advance integrated solutions that strengthen resilience that accelerate impact across interconnected systems.
The summit was hosted by MASDAR of UAE with 50,000 preregistered attendees from 150 countries. -UKASnews
