Sarawak Premier Arrives In Bangkok, Brings State’s Energy Agenda To GASTECH 2026
BANGKOK: Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, arrived in Bangkok on Sunday for an official working visit to Thailand to attend the Ministerial Roundtable Meeting in conjunction with GASTECH 2026 on Monday.
He arrived at his accommodation at about 5.10 pm local time, accompanied by Sarawak Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.
The Sarawak Premier’s official programme on Monday will begin with a meeting with Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited Group Chief Executive Officer and founder, Aloke Lohia, at The Ritz-Carlton, Bangkok.
The meeting is expected to provide an opportunity to expand networks and explore potential areas of cooperation between Sarawak and international industry and corporate players.
In the afternoon, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari is scheduled to attend a closed-door Ministerial Roundtable Meeting, followed by an Energy Dialogue session titled ‘Growth, Abundance and the Courage to Decarbonise’.
He will then take part in a fireside chat at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), providing an opportunity to highlight Sarawak’s perspectives on the future of the energy industry, economic growth, energy transition and decarbonisation efforts.
Participation in GASTECH 2026 will also provide an opportunity for the Sarawak delegation to strengthen strategic networks with stakeholders and key players in the global energy industry.
The Sarawak Premier is scheduled to depart for the state capital on Monday afternoon. -UKASnews
