KCFC’s Improving Form Reflects Rising Quality Of Sarawak Football
KUCHING: The performance of Kuching City FC (KCFC) continues to improve, clearly demonstrating the rising quality of football teams in Sarawak.
Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said KCFC’s 2–0 victory over Penang FC in the second leg of the Malaysia Cup 2026 last night has indirectly returned Sarawak’s name to the national football spotlight.
“I am extremely pleased with the progress shown by this Sarawak-based team, namely KCFC, in the league.
“We can see that the quality of the team from the Land of the Hornbills has improved significantly,” he said when met by reporters during his attendance at the trial run of the new Kuching Metro electric bus route here on Sunday.
On the occasion, he extended his congratulations and praise to the squad under the guidance of Aidil Sharin Sahak, expressing hope that they will be able to maintain their winning momentum.
Earlier, KCFC overcame the four-time Malaysia Cup champions with a 2–1 aggregate score, despite suffering a 0–1 defeat in the first-leg match at Bandaraya Stadium on 18 January.
