Focus On Talent Development For Sustainable Future
BINTANGOR: Sarawakians are urged to remain united, uphold noble values and focus on talent development for a sustainable future for the state.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian said Sarawak's success today is the result of political stability and consistent leadership over the past few decades.
According to him, progress can only be achieved through constructive engagement rather than divisive politics.
“Nation building is extremely challenging in a divided environment. A society that constantly attacks its own institutions will find it difficult to move forward,” he said during the 2026 Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Bintangor Annual Assembly and Party Mobilisation Ceremony here, on Sunday.
The SUPP President also stressed that the support and confidence shown by the people of Meradong towards SUPP representatives and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) since 2016 have proven to be well placed, as reflected in the significant improvements in infrastructure development across the district.
Meanwhile, Meradong Assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing shared that a total of 10 mega projects have been planned and are set to be implemented in the Meradong District.
Among the projects currently underway is the RM4 million upgrade of Bintangor Recreational Park, while completed projects include the RM3.5 million Bintangor Sports Complex and the construction of the RM3 million Bintangor pontoon.
Datuk Ding added that major projects under the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA) are also expected to be tendered this year, including the RM35 million upgrading of Bintangor Waterfront and the construction of a two-storey multipurpose hall valued at RM18 million.
In addition, several basic infrastructure projects are in the pipeline, including the construction of an alternative route linking Jalan Kilang to Jalan Janting at a cost of RM8 million, a RM10 million main pipeline project from Jalan Kelupu to the Tulai Booster Station, and a RM25 million upgrade of the Bintangor Town reticulation system.
Datuk Ding also announced that the RM77 million Bintangor-Sungai Tulai alternative road project under RADDA will be implemented following a request by Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities who is also Sarikei Member of Parliament Dato’ Sri Huang Tiong Sii. -UKASnews
