Sarawak Premier In Jakarta To Deliver Keynote Address At IES 2026
JAKARTA: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg is set to advance Sarawak’s international engagement after being listed among global leaders scheduled to deliver keynote addresses at the Indonesia Economic Summit (IES) 2026, taking place from 3 to 4 February.
He safely arrived in Jakarta on Monday to attend the prestigious summit which brings together global leaders, policymakers, economists and industry leaders to deliberate on the direction of regional and global economic growth.
The Sarawak Premier’s delegation was accompanied by Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, as well as other state government officials.
At the summit, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari is expected to share insights into Sarawak’s economic development and transformation, including its sustainable development approach which has increasingly attracted attention at the ASEAN and international levels.
IES 2026, themed ‘Coming Together to Boost Resilient Growth and Shared Prosperity’, will serve as an important platform to discuss global strategic issues comprising inclusive growth, national economic models, labour mobility, trade policy, industrial investment, business competitiveness, digital transformation, ASEAN’s economic positioning, as well as strategies to address global challenges and risks.
Organised by the Indonesia Business Council, the summit convenes world leaders, economic thinkers, corporate leaders and entrepreneurs, providing a platform for in-depth discourse through roundtable sessions, bilateral meetings and policy dialogues with government stakeholders.
This year, the summit will also feature a new segment, ‘IES in Action’, showcasing ongoing projects and research by the Indonesia Business Council alongside key initiatives that have a direct impact on regional and global economic development agendas. -UKASnews
