UKAS–Agency Collaboration Key To Expanding Outreach Of Sarawak Government Initiatives
MUKAH: All agencies are encouraged to work closely with the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) to help disseminate information on their respective programmes and initiatives more effectively.
UKAS Director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan said such collaboration would strengthen the delivery of information to the grassroots level.
“UKAS plays a role in disseminating information on government policies and initiatives to the wider public, especially across our state.
“We are also fully aware that many initiatives implemented by the state government under the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg need to be communicated to all quarters of society,” he said.
He spoke to officiate the closing of UKAS Making Connection 2026: News Writing, Articles and Press Release Workshop for Public Relations Officers (PROs), held at a hotel here on Tuesday.
The programme aims to enhance the competency of government officers in developing strategic written communications for public relations purposes, particularly in the context of government policy, crisis communication and media engagement.
In addition, it seeks to ensure officers are able to produce press releases that reflect the government’s voice, manage public communication during crises, and practise effective business writing using appropriate terminology and tone for various stakeholders.
Also present were UKAS Special Administrative Officer Datu Takun Sunggah, UKAS Deputy Director Mohamed Faizal Shah Ali, UKAS Principal Assistant Director Anwar Hanafi Ardimansyah and Ahmad Faizal Osman (Cikgu Emmet). -UKASnews
