BEKENU: The inaugural Subis District-Level Chinese New Year 2026 Celebration was held in a lively atmosphere at the Sibuti Arena, Bekenu on Wednesday night with the presence of various levels of the local community.

The ceremony was officiated by Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian.

In an atmosphere full of goodwill and unity, the gathering organised by the Subis District-Level Chinese New Year 2026 Celebration Committee aimed to celebrate the festival while strengthening relations between the various ethnic communities in this district.

The organisation of the celebration also served as a platform to appreciate the contributions of the Chinese community to local development and to preserve the cultural heritage of the community.

At the same time, it also served as an important medium in strengthening relations between the community and the government.
