'Kamek Prihatin, Kitak Penting' Strengthens Bridge Between Government & The People
BETONG: The spirit of togetherness and compassion was clearly evident in the implementation of the Outreach Programme by the Sarawak Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK), in collaboration with its strategic partners for Betong Zone 2026, under the theme “Kamek Prihatin, Kitak Penting”.
The programme was graced by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas accompanied by his wife, Datin Amar Dato Doreen Mayang, Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, and Deputy Minister for Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam.
Also in attendance were Betong Member of Parliament Dato Dr Richard Rapu, Beting Maro Assemblyman Dato Razaili Gapor, Kalaka Assemblyman Mohammad Duri, Chairman of the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, and Betong Division Resident Datu Richard Michael Abunawas.
In her speech, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah emphasised that the outreach approach serves as an important bridge between the government and the people, ensuring that every welfare initiative reaches its intended target groups directly.
According to her, programmes of this nature are not merely ceremonial events, but strategic platforms for disseminating information, facilitating access to assistance, and strengthening collaboration between the ministry and its strategic partners.
“This is our first outreach programme for 2026, and there will be more to follow. Last year, we organised three.
“We have set our KPIs to ensure that ‘Kamek Prihatin, Kitak Penting’ reaches every corner of Sarawak,” she said when speaking at the programme held at Dewan Masyarakat Spaoh on Saturday.
She also expressed her appreciation to all parties involved in making the programme a success, underscoring the continued commitment to ensuring that the wellbeing of the people remains a top priority.
She added that the state government, under the leadership of the Premier of Sarawak, continues to introduce various welfare initiatives encompassing education, women’s empowerment, assistance for low-income families, support for non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and healthcare benefits for senior citizens.
“The on-the-ground approach through outreach programmes like this is believed to further strengthen ties between the government and the local community, in line with the state’s inclusive development aspirations so that no one is left behind in the progress of development,” she said.
