Anak Sarawak Urged To Strengthen Unity, Achieve 2030 Aspirations
KUCHING: The Chinese New Year celebration in Sarawak is not just a celebration of a race, but rather a symbol of unity and togetherness of all the people in the state.
Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian said that the open house practice that has become a community tradition in this state reflects the unique harmony enjoyed by people of all races and religions, when everyone comes together to celebrate regardless of background.
“Chinese New Year in Sarawak is for everyone. This is our strength as people who always live in the spirit of goodwill and mutual respect,” he said in his Chinese New Year 2026 message.
He added that the celebration is not only a moment for family reunions and strengthening friendships, but also a space for the people to evaluate the achievements that have been achieved and plan improvement measures for the future of the state.
Meanwhile, he invited all Sarawakians, whether in the state, in Peninsular Malaysia or abroad, to continue to play their respective roles in contributing to the development of Sarawak.
“When we return to our homeland, let us see what other roles we can play for Sarawak,” he said.
Towards 2030, he stressed that Sarawak needs a high spirit of togetherness to ensure that the development and nation-building agenda can be successfully realised.
According to him, the spirit of celebration that unites the people should be translated into efforts to develop the state so that Sarawak continues to progress not only in terms of economy, but also in terms of unity and identity of its people.
In conjunction with the Year of the Fire Horse 2026, he also called on the people to instill the spirit of courage, perseverance and fighting spirit in facing current challenges.
At the same time, he reminded the public to always prioritise safety during the journey back to their hometowns and to take advantage of quality time with their beloved families.
Concluding his message, he prayed that all the people would be blessed with good health so that they could continue to serve their families, communities and the country. –UKASnews
