Warm Reception As 140 Stalls Enliven Uptown Desa Ilmu Ramadan Bazaar
KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Uptown Desa Ilmu Ramadan Bazaar continues to record an impressive response, with 140 stalls operating throughout the fasting month, cementing its status as a premier destination for residents of Kota Samarahan and the surrounding areas.
The steady stream of visitors every afternoon proves that the bazaar remains a vital hub for breaking-of-fast delicacies and a key gathering point for the local community.
Deputy Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) and Muara Tuang Assemblyman Dato’ Idris Buang, expressed his delight at the positive growth of Uptown Desa Ilmu, noting its improved organisation and cleanliness.
“I see that our 'Uptown' is becoming cleaner, more organised, and larger. The participation of traders is increasingly prominent in terms of hygiene, presentation, and the diversity of food and beverages offered,” he remarked while officiating the bazaar.
According to him, the commitment shown by the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) and the organising committee has successfully turned Uptown Desa Ilmu into an icon for the Muara Tuang and Samarahan areas.
“I would like to extend my deepest thanks and congratulations to everyone involved. I see a sincere and earnest effort to ensure this bazaar succeeds as a landmark for Muara Tuang and Samarahan,” he added.
The bazaar also provides a significant economic boost to small and medium-sized traders, as the high participation and large crowds offer ample opportunities to generate income throughout the month of Ramadan.
Dato’ Idris further called upon the public, especially those around Kuching and Samarahan, to visit and experience the unique offerings available at the bazaar.
“I urge everyone, particularly those in the nearby Kuching and Samarahan regions, to come here and try it for themselves. There are dishes found only here in Samarahan that you won't find anywhere else,” he said.
Also present at the event were MPKS Chairman Awang Ismawi Abang Ali, Samarahan Deputy Resident Rais Ahmad, MPKS Secretary Gustian Durani, and Samarahan Division Malay Community Leader, Temenggung Chek Bujang.
The ceremony concluded with a tour of the stalls, highlighting the vibrant atmosphere as visitors selected various dishes for their evening meal. - UKASnews
