Sarawak Governor & Wife Attend Iftar Ceremony At Astana Negeri Surau
KUCHING: The Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, attended an Iftar ceremony held at the Dining Hall of the Astana Negeri Surau on Saturday.
The event serves as a manifestation of the state leadership’s commitment to eminence of Islam and strengthening communal bonds throughout Ramadan.
Upon their arrival, Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan were received by the Senior Private Secretary to the Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Dato Sri Syed Hamzah Syed Paie, along with the staff of Astana Negeri Sarawak.
The ceremony commenced with a light Iftar before the attendees performed the Maghrib prayer in congregation.
Following the prayer, Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan joined the invited guests for dinner in a harmonious atmosphere at the Dining Hall.
The evening continued with the Isyak and Sunat Tarawih prayers, led by Ustaz Awang Mohamad Safwan Awang Sefari.
The congregation included invited guests from the Muara Tuang and Stakan constituencies.
After the prayers, Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan joined the attendees for a moreh session, further fostering the relationship between the state leadership and the local community.
Their presence reflects the ongoing concern and support of the Institution of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri toward religious programmes that serve as a vehicle for unity, communal spirit, and the spiritual enrichment of Muslims in the state during this blessed month.
Also in attendance were the President of the Sarawak Islamic Council, Datuk Misnu Taha and his wife; Chief Syarie Judge, Datu Awang Suhaili Ledi; Director of the Sarawak Islamic Affairs Department, Ustaz Mual Suaud and his wife; and Datu Abdul Hadi Abdul Kadir and his wife. — UKASnews
