Digital Payments & Hygiene Main Focus Of Lundu Ramadan Bazaar 2026
LUNDU: The organisation of the Lundu District Ramadan Bazaar 2026 featured a distinction by placing special emphasis on the use of digital payments and hygiene aspects in line with current needs and efforts to improve visitor comfort.
The opening ceremony of the Lundu Ramadan Bazaar was officiated by Tanjong Datu Assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan on Sunday.
Also present were the Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier Abang Abdul Aziz Abang Draup, Lundu District Officer and Chairman of the Lundu District Council Zulkarnain Ismail and Acting Secretary of the Lundu District Council Lisa Mireg.
In his speech, Azizul expressed his appreciation to the Lundu District Council for its continued commitment to organising the Ramadan bazaar yearly, which not only provides convenience for residents to purchase food for breaking of fast, but also helps boost the local community's economy.
He described the Ramadan bazaar this time as more organised and structured, besides expressing his satisfaction at the very encouraging response from the community.
At the same time, he reminded traders to always prioritise cleanliness, quality and food safety to ensure that visitors' confidence is maintained.
He also encouraged hawkers to take advantage of digital payment facilities such as QR codes, in line with the changing trends in current business transactions.
Meanwhile, the Lundu District Council announced that the 2026 Ramadan Bazaar will be held in two main locations, namely Lundu and Sematan, involving a total of 69 business sites.
Of these, 55 sites are provided in Lundu while another 14 sites are in Sematan. -UKASnews
