Leadership Engagement Strengthens Unity In Diverse Communities
SARIKEI: The engagement of leadership continues to be demonstrated through house-to-house visits in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration by Deputy Minister of Plantations and Commodities Dato’ Sri Huang Tiong Sii, together with representatives of the Sarikei Parliamentary Service Centre to strengthen relationships with community leaders and local residents.
According to the Sarikei Member of Parliament, such programmes not only enliven the festive atmosphere, but also serve as an important medium in strengthening unity and harmony of the multi-ethnic community in the Sarikei area.
“I think this kind of programme is very meaningful because it not only brings the festive atmosphere to life, but also strengthens unity and harmony among the multi-ethnic community in the Sarikei area.
“The tradition of visiting during the festive season is also the best platform to directly listen to the views and needs of the people at the grassroots level, and I will continue to be committed to reaching out to the people and ensuring that their welfare is always given attention,” he said when met during the visit around Sarikei, on Saturday.
During the visit, Dato’ Sri Huang also visited the residences of Temenggong Lau Hieng Ming and Pemanca Chan Phan Chan in addition to mingling with the community from various walks of life who together celebrated the joy of Chinese New Year in a friendly atmosphere full of goodwill.
The visit thus reflects the leadership’s compassion for the people as well as its continued commitment to fostering unity and harmony among the diverse communities in the Sarikei area. -UKASnews
