Iftar Ceremony & 2026 CNY Celebration Strengthen Unity Of Mukah Community
MUKAH: The Mukah District Iftar Ceremony and Chinese New Year 2026 Celebration Dinner served as an excellent platform to bolster unity and foster a spirit of harmony among the multi-racial community in this district.
The event was officiated by the Deputy Health Minister and Member of Parliament for Mukah Dato Hanifah Hajar Taib and was also attended by Tellian Assemblyman Royston Valentine on Friday.
In her speech, Dato Hanifah expressed her gratitude to see people of various races and backgrounds gathered together in full harmony to celebrate two major festivals simultaneously.
"The uniqueness of celebrations in Sarawak is evident when a festival is not only celebrated by one race, but welcomed together as a large family that mutually respects and understands one another," she said.
In this regard, she also recorded her appreciation to the Mukah Division Chinese Association as the co-organiser, as well as the Mukah Divisional Resident’s Office, the Mukah District Office, and all parties involved in making the event a success.
Dato Hanifah added that holding the ceremony during the month of Ramadan further illustrates the beauty of cultural diversity in the state, which is rooted in tolerance and inter-racial understanding.
She expressed her hope that the strong spirit of unity among the people of Mukah will continue to be preserved to ensure that local development and wellbeing can be achieved together.
Also present were the Sarawak State Health Director Dr Veronica Lugah, Director of the Compliance & Industry Development Division Food Safety and Quality Programme of the MOH Ts.
