SABERKAS Muara Tuang Branch Distributes 1,400 Packets Of Bubur Lambuk
KOTA SAMARAHAN: The 2026 Bubur Lambuk Roadshow organised by the Muara Tuang branch of the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) successfully distributed 1,400 containers of bubur lambuk to local residents in conjunction with Ramadan.
Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development and Member of Parliament for Kota Samarahan, Datuk Rubiah Wang, described the roadshow as a clear manifestation of the spirit of togetherness, unity and volunteerism among youth and the wider community.
According to her, the preparation and distribution of bubur lambuk is not only a tradition closely associated with Ramadan, but also serves as an excellent platform to cultivate the values of charity, strengthen bonds of brotherhood and extend assistance to those in need.
“This year marks the 20th anniversary of the SABERKAS Bubur Lambuk roadshow being held throughout Sarawak. This demonstrates the youth organisation’s continued commitment to engaging with the community and enlivening this blessed month,” she said.
Datuk Rubiah also called on more young people in the Muara Tuang state constituency to join SABERKAS as a platform for self-development, leadership and community service.
“SABERKAS does not merely organise welfare programmes such as the bubur lambuk initiative, but is also actively involved in educational, sports, recreational and youth development programmes at both state and branch levels. This is the platform to nurture youth who are principled, competitive and community-oriented,” she added.
At the same event, the Muara Tuang branch of SABERKAS presented a contribution of RM1,000 to the Management Committee of Surau Darul Ikhlas, Kampung Empila Hulu, to support activities at the surau, in addition to providing assistance to 10 asnaf from Kampung Empila.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly and Muara Tuang Assemblyman, Dato Idris Buang, in his welcoming address, emphasised that the practice of giving charity is an important obligation in Islam, particularly during Ramadan when rewards are multiplied.
“Prayer and fasting benefit ourselves, but charity directly benefits those who receive it. Programmes such as this symbolise charitable practices that should be continued,” he said.
The programme was a collaboration between the Muara Tuang branch of SABERKAS, the Management Committee of Surau Darul Ikhlas Kampung Empila Hulu, and local organisations.
Also present were Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) Municipal Secretary Gustian Durani, a representative of the Kota Samarahan District Police Chief ASP Ahmad Roshul Ab Rashid, and a representative of SABERKAS Sarawak Louisa Suly Nanta. -UKASnews
