Sarawak Premier Breaks Fast With PERYATIM Kuching, Brings Cheer To 63 Orphans
KUCHING: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg continued to uphold the spirit of Ramadan by attending a breaking-of-fast event followed by Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers in congregation with the Sarawak Orphan Children Welfare Association (PERYATIM) Kuching Branch.
The event was held at the Multipurpose Hall of Kompleks Satria Pertiwi on Tuesday.
Previously, the annual breaking-of-fast programme with PERYATIM was usually held at the organisation’s premises during the tenure of the late Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang who served as PERYATIM Adviser.
Following her passing, the Sarawak Premier’s daughter Dayang Norjihan assumed the role of PERYATIM Adviser, continuing the legacy and charitable initiatives long championed under the late Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani’s stewardship.
This year’s programme marked a new milestone as it was held for the first time at Kompleks Satria Pertiwi, signalling a new chapter in the organisation of the annual event.
Earlier, the breaking-of-fast event began with a brief tahlil recitation led by Ustaz Kasdinata Hashim, followed by a prayer before guests and attendees enjoyed the iftar meal.
After breaking fast, the programme continued with Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers performed in congregation.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of personal contributions from the Sarawak Premier and his family to the children under the care of PERYATIM Kuching, with 63 orphans receiving the assistance as a gesture of compassion and care.
Contributions to the boys were presented personally by Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari, while the girls received theirs from Dayang Norjihan.
The event also featured a photography session with the children before concluding with a moreh meal following the Tarawih prayers.
The organisers expressed their deepest appreciation to the Sarawak Premier and his family for taking the time to be with the PERYATIM children, as well as to all guests who attended and enlivened the programme.
They also extended their appreciation to the late Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani for her invaluable contributions and dedication during her tenure leading PERYATIM.
Also present were corporate figure Tan Sri Dato Sri Bustari Yusof, Sarawak Islamic Council President and PERYATIM Sarawak Board of Trustees Chairman Datuk Misnu Taha, along with other distinguished guests. -UKASnews
