MBKS Begins Drainage Repair Works At Lorong Chawan 3
KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng has officially handed over the project site to the appointed contractor for the repair of the existing concrete drain and associated works at Lorong Chawan 3.
The project involves the repair of approximately 300 metres of concrete drainage and is expected to be completed within four months.
The scope of works includes the repair and reconstruction of damaged sections of the drain, improvements to water flow, and other related civil engineering works aimed at strengthening the overall drainage system in the area.
Dato Wee said the upgrading of drainage infrastructure is crucial in reducing water overflow and minimising the risk of flash floods, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.
He added that the project reflects the continuous efforts of MBKS to improve basic infrastructure while responding to concerns raised by residents.
“Proper drainage is essential to ensure public safety, facilitate smooth traffic movement, and safeguard the overall well-being of the community,” he said.
Also present during the site handover were MBKS Deputy City Secretary Taufiq Abdullah, Councillor Albert Tay and Penghulu Tan Heng Kee.
Residents have been advised that there may be temporary inconvenience during the four-month construction period.
MBKS will closely monitor the progress of the works to ensure they are completed on schedule and in accordance with the required standards.
The council remains committed to implementing practical infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing the quality of life for the community. -UKASnews
